Like drawing a picture on canvas we move on the earth like the point of a pencil or the stroke of a brush before the eyes of Him who holds and guides us steady with every strait line or curve we make. On a canvas of time, from our birth to our death, we leave traces that are accentuated by the assorted colors and shapes that all converge into one full picture of who we have been, who we are now, and who we will be in the world to come. We are not the abstract or distorted pictures that only a few can understand or appreciate. We are the beautiful landscape that catches the creative eyes of the Master Painter, who with light and dark, gives one glorious perspective of the things that please Him most. There is always a place in a painted picture for highlights or shading. Shading is one of the most difficult and important techniques a painter can master to give depth to a flat illustration. Have you ever seen a painted picture without shading or highlights? The dark places become part of the picture in perfect harmony with whatever it is being highlighted in full color. We were not created to be hung on an obscure wall in the holy palace of God! We are esteemed as a beautiful creation, like a work of living art, as lovely and vibrant as a newborn babe in the eyes of loving parents for the first time. Look around you — at the sun, moon, and stars; the lofty mountains and the deep seas teaming with life. These are all things God created to exist in harmony with one another, so that what is most precious in His sight (you and I) can display in a place of honor for all to behold — His unparalleled artistry in this world and the heavens unseen.
