The greatest detriment to our success in walking in the Spirit is walking in fear of failure. How many times in my life did I delay peace because I sinned and thought that the restoration process was a gradual one. That’s a lie! God’s forgiveness is instant when we with humble hearts confess our wrong and repent. That means we as children can get right back up and continue to walk before God as clean as when we first believed. The enemy would like to convince you that you should be ashamed and wallow in it. You should be ashamed, but never wallow in it! When you wallow in shame your telling God that you don’t accept His judgment to forgive you and therefore ultimately saying that God doesn’t know what He’s doing. He knows exactly what He’s doing! He’s treating you as a child of His. Be confident in that! Walking in the Spirit is being confident that no matter how dire the circumstance or how grim the failure, God is not dealing with you according to your sin nor rewarding you according to your iniquity (Psalm 103). Lift your head up and give Him your heart; even if you don’t feel right. The substance of our faith in God derives from the substance of His commitment to be faithful to us no matter what! You’re going to breathe air no matter what your feeling, right? Well then trust in God to keep you by His Spirit as if in Him you live, move, and have your being! Love you in Christ.
Galatians 5:16-26
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another,so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
