Romans 6:3–4 (NKJV) – Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in newness of life.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ follows a dramatic story of betrayal and murder that turned the world upside down. To believe in the story is essential, but to be entirely changed by it and moved forward into the future with unrelenting devotion to God is what it was truly all about from the beginning. God never intended for us to stay in the story. Though the written history of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection validate our belief in what has happened in the past, those things are accomplished and have now become markers to remind us that Jesus is alive and wants us to live for Him in the present. The work of the Cross is finished! We need now only to live each day by faith, believing in our risen Saviour and what His empty tomb represents. It represents complete victory over sin and death; and everlasting life to those, who while in this world, take up their cross and follow Him (Matthew 16:24-26). We will not be tried and suffer forever. A time will come when our story will end in triumph because Jesus has authored it from beginning to end. We will lay down our crosses at His feet and bear the weight no more. Jesus Christ has risen from the dead! So to, will we be raised up with Him and see His glory and reward with our own eyes. For now, there is a task before us that He will in no way leave us to accomplish on our own. He will guide and protect us until the very end. Do not just stay in the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let it remind you of the ever-present, all-powerful, all-knowing, wonderful Savior with you now. Be reminded of the great things God has done for us! Remain in the present with Him who has risen indeed.
