2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) – For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
We who have been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ have “become the righteousness of God.” We must accept this in spite of all our imperfections. We must have faith in the righteousness of God, even when we don’t feel our worth in His sight. The very word “righteousness” denotes a fulfillment of the expectations in any relationship, whether with God or other people. God has a relationship commitment to us who have accepted His gift of salvation through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4-6). Whatever expectations were required for us to stand unashamed before His presence have been satisfied by that gift alone. The sins you have already committed, are presently engaged in, or may incur in the future are kept outside the divine relationship you have with God. When one returns and repents from sin, they are restored again by God’s unchanging love and commitment to never breaking the relationship off (1 John 1:8-10). If this is true — wouldn’t it make sense to confess and repent of your sins immediately? We don’t have to wait for our guilt to subside or our shame to diminish to come into God’s Light. God looks at you with the pure Light of Christ and knows your desire to be examined (John 3:21). The very proof you give is stepping willingly into it without hesitation so that you can be completely exposed and cleansed by His loving heart towards you. Too often we tend to interject our summations of who we think we are into a calculation that is already perfect and that needs no more or no less to make it add up the right way! By His power, we prevail in life and over death. One day we will move on into eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord; Have faith and trust in God’s plan (Jeremiah 29:11-13)! Our lives have an immovable destination into God’s good pleasure even though many intimidating parts are moving us there (Romans 8:35-39)!
