God does not “beat around the bush.” The origin of the idiom “beating around the bush” is associated with hunting. In medieval times, hunters hired men to beat the area around bushes with sticks in order to flush out game or birds taking cover underneath. God speaks the truth! The reason behind the enduring Word of God is that it speaks directly to every aspect of the human condition in its raw sinful disposition and provides a solution to the problem with no PR considerations. God spoke first through His Son Jesus Christ and then by the Holy Spirit through the saints who were left after His resurrection. The way in which God chose to speak testifies that He spoke with the intentions of sanctifying humanity, not with the intentions of trying to be right or to argue a case. Sanctifying humanity (freeing from sin and setting apart for His purpose) involved a love for sinners that first had to reject the sin in them. It required a perfect sacrifice in the Son of God that did not compromise the intrinsic values of His sinless life that was always opposed to worldliness. The Cross of Jesus Christ is both for and against humanity; always seeking the lost person to bring them to the Light, and always opposing the lost deeds of wicked people who hide in darkness. We cannot vote away the moral decline of this world. It is broken and dead in it’s sins. There is no political side that will save us or national issue that will make us better if we fix it. If you are a Christian you are eternal. Nations come and go but God’s faithfulness to His people is steadfast and sure. We are not Americans forever, but we are Christians forever.
Isaiah 40:17 – All nations before Him are as nothing, And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.
For us who abide in Him it is imperative to live as blameless participants in His love for the world, not hateful participants in the temporal issues that are of no consequence to God’s purpose of destroying the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). The world may not understand the work of the Cross but it is nonetheless the only way to save the world from the stronghold of darkness,
1 Corinthians 1:18 – For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Earthly light does not consider the pimples or blemishes on your face; it doesn’t consider that you didn’t brush your hair or put make-up on today. The Spiritual light of God shines on the beautiful and the ugly and does not dim because of our perspectives or views. God sees the inside of us before He sees the outside. The exposure we have to His light actually penetrates the inside first, and then works its way out. What a blessed savior and such an amazing mathematician! His calculations are never wrong and always based on unchangeable Truth. He has proved it time and again and always will till the sum of our lives equal the praise and glory due to His name.
